Message from the Co-Chairs:

Welcome Go Red Women!

Each year approximately 500,000 women die as a direct result of heart disease. Eighty percent of cardiac events in women may be prevented if women make the right choices for their hearts, involving diet, exercise and abstinence from smoking. Women often times avoid or delay seeking medical care, perhaps out of denial or they’re just too busy, but often times it’s because they do not recognize the symptoms related to heart disease in women.  Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s solution to save women’s lives. It is a premier source of information and education, connecting millions of women of all ages and giving them tangible resources to turn personal choices into life-saving actions.

On Thursday, March 25th, Go Red For Women celebrates the power of women and our community with a celebration of our volunteers, supporters, as well as business and community leaders—the Go Red For Women Luncheon & Learning Sessions.  Collectively, the exemplary support of our partners allows us to create a life-saving legacy of critical health education initiatives, community-based programs, and vital life-saving medical and scientific research.

As the 2009/2010 Go Red Co-Chairs, we invite you to join us in supporting this important movement.  Please consider this special opportunity to partner with us and the American Heart Association in reducing the number of deaths in women related to cardiovascular disease.

On behalf of the American Heart Association, thank you for “Going Red”.

Warmest regards,

Jean Marie Connolly and Cindy Rubino
